Preview: Clyde Bulldogs vs. Peaster Greyhounds
The Clyde Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Peaster Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Clyde put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 34-14 margin over Breckenridge. Given Clyde's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Breckenridge is ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blake Carr was a one-man wrecking crew for Clyde as he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Carr was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Kendrick Johnson, who picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Peaster had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Boyd 43-28.
Among those leading the charge was Lafe Bringman, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Cannon Kelley was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Peaster, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Cade McCollough: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Clyde has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. As for Peaster, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
