Volleyball Recap: O'Neill Comes Up Short

O'Neill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wayne Blue Devils. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, O'Neill sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-18, 20-25, 25-17.

Mariah Kallhoff paced O'Neill's offense, picking up nine kills. Kallhoff got some help from Hannah Hilker and her 26 assists.

O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Coincidentally, O'Neill and Wayne will both be playing Cedar Catholic the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 8:00 p.m.
