Softball Recap: St. Paul Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Paul had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Bishop Amat Lancers. This was a revenge game for the Swordsmen: when they faced off against the Lancers back in March, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Gianelle Napoles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kailee Mejia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sunni Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

St. Paul hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

St. Paul's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-14. As for Bishop Amat, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-12.

Looking ahead, St. Paul will square off against Alta Loma at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Swordsmen surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Amat does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
