Volleyball Recap: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Elgin Comets
Mt. Gilead unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Elgin Comets on Saturday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.
Mt. Gilead was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Elgin work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-9, 25-12.
Lindsey Ayers paced Mt. Gilead's offense, picking up four kills. Ayers got some help from Kenlee Trainer and her four assists. Kylee Whipple controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Gilead is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Gilead Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elgin, they will challenge Colonel Crawford at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
