Basketball Recap: Easley HomeSchool Guardians vs. Providence Athletic Club Panthers
The Easley HomeSchool Guardians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 44-27 win over Providence Athletic Club. The win was just what Easley HomeSchool needed coming off of a 42-17 defeat in their prior matchup.
Despite the defeat, Providence Athletic Club saw an underclassman step up: Anabel Catone scored 13 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 48.1% of Providence Athletic Club's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sweat, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
The win got Easley HomeSchool back to even at 5-5. As for Providence Athletic Club, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Easley HomeSchool will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Hurricanes at 5:15 p.m. on February 8th. Coastal HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 425th in Georgia, while the Guardians are ranked 108th in South Carolina). As for Providence Athletic Club, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Varsity Opponent is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
