The Diboll Lumberjacks will square off against the Huntington Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Diboll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Diboll turned things around against Newton on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 20-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lumberjacks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Brooklyn Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, De'Mya Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lorena Castillo, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Diboll hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Huntington's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let Pollok Central get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The four-run effort marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Huntington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Mullins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Huntington's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Diboll, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 8-9.
Diboll might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Huntington when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Lumberjacks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
