Recap: Morning Star Academy Mustangs vs. Rivermont Collegiate Lions
The Morning Star Academy Mustangs lost against the Rivermont Collegiate Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Morning Star Academy took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rivermont Collegiate. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morning Star Academy in their matchups with Rivermont Collegiate: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Morning Star Academy still got an impressive performance from Gavin Trotter, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Brady, who scored 5 points along with 4 steals.
Rivermont Collegiate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eamon Matlock out in front who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Graham Matlock was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Morning Star Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Rivermont Collegiate, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morning Star Academy will face off against Central DeWitt at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rivermont Collegiate will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Morning Star Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
