Volleyball Recap: Southwest's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Southwest had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Garcia, who had 12 digs and three assists. That's the most digs Garcia has posted over her last three matches. Ryeli Valdez was another key player, getting five digs and two aces.

Southwest was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Southwest's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Southwest has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Pflugerville Connally on the 23rd. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Ellison on the 23rd.
