Baseball Recap: Charlotte Christian Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

After only two runs in their last game, Charlotte Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cienega on Saturday. The Charlotte Christian Knights were the clear victor by a 13-7 margin over the Cienega Bobcats. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Wade Thompson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Cohen Bettencourt and Hudson Simmons did most of the damage at the plate: Bettencourt scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Simmons scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Bettencourt a new career-high. Witt McCammon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cienega, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte Christian will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Weddington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Weddington's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cienega, they will be playing at home against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
