Lake Cormorant hasn't had much luck against DeSoto Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Lake Cormorant will square off against DeSoto Central at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Lake Cormorant turned things around against Olive Branch on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Conquistadors with a sharp 15-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Lake Cormorant considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Aubrey Kirkpatrick and Chatham Hamberlin were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Kirkpatrick struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hamberlin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Kirkpatrick a new career-high. Makayla Jamison made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
