Basketball Game Preview: Valley Christian Warriors vs. Archbishop Riordan Crusaders

Valley Christian hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Riordan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Valley Christian Warriors will face off against the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Valley Christian is headed into the game having just posted their biggest win since December 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory with a sharp 64-38 victory. The Warriors pushed the score to 49-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Fightin' Irish had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Riordan won against Saint Francis on Friday with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Archbishop Riordan breezed by Archbishop Mitty to the tune of 75-46. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 24 points or more this season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Archbishop Riordan, bringing their record for this year to 14-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Valley Christian took a serious blow against Archbishop Riordan in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 88-59. Can Valley Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
