Baseball Recap: Delaware County Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against MAST Community Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delaware County Christian). They walked away with an 8-4 win over the MAST Community Charter Panthers on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Reid Darnall made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Darnall wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matteo DeBellis, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, DeBellis is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Sam Dixon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Delaware County Christian's record is now 2-4. As for MAST Community Charter, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delaware County Christian will welcome Renaissance Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Renaissance Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Delaware County Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for MAST Community Charter, they will square off against MAST Charter II at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
