Baseball Recap: Irvington Find Success

After losing to Moreau Catholic the last time they met, Irvington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vikings came out on top against the Mariners by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Santiago Parks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Irvington is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise. Parks was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Wesley Ren was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Irvington is 2-1 when Ren posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Zo Naithy was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Irvington's record now sits at 8-10. As for Moreau Catholic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mariners beat Irvington by a score of 8-3 on Friday.
