Football Recap: Burleson Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Nathan Jackson and Andrew Sparks + How To Watch

After flying high against Grapevine last Friday, Burleson came back down to earth. The Elks took a 29-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Colony Cougars on Friday. The Elks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Burleson's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Sparks and Nathan Jackson. Sparks rushed for 83 yards on only nine carries, while Jackson rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown.

While Burleson came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for The Colony: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. Burleson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for The Colony, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Looking ahead, Burleson will take on Mansfield Timberview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
