Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Maquoketa Cardinals, falling 58-28. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Cardinals are ranked 24th).

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Maquoketa, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Northeast will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Beckman at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Maquoketa, they and Central DeWitt will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Maquoketa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
