Recap: Hoggard Vikings vs. South Brunswick Cougars
The Hoggard Vikings entered their tilt with the South Brunswick Cougars with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Hoggard took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-0 victory over South Brunswick. Given Hoggard's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while South Brunswick is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoggard was led to victory by M?kel Bellamy and Hudson Wilharm. Bellamy rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns, while Wilharm threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Blake Edwards also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.
Hoggard's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for South Brunswick, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Hoggard will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Hanover at 7:00 p.m. New Hanover is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for South Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against West Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Brunswick is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
