Baseball Recap: Tennessee's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Tennessee dropped their record down to 13-6-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Gate City Blue Devils. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Gate City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Gate City's part, Allen Lane looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jackson Jones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Wood, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Tennessee will welcome University School at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Gate City, they will venture away from home to take on Greeneville at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
