Basketball Recap: Marshall Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Marshall entered their tilt with Hannibal on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 72-69. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Owls also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2025.

Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Kueker led the charge by going 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. Kueker has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Chase Thompson was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They are a perfect 6-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Marshall's record now sits at 8-3. As for Hannibal, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Marshall will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Boonville at 7:15 p.m. on the 20th. As for Hannibal, they will square off against Monroe City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
