Softball Game Preview: Harvest Community Warriors vs. St. Johns Country Day Spartans

The Harvest Community Warriors will take on the St. Johns Country Day Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Harvest Community's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while St. Johns Country Day has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Harvest Community got the win against First Coast Christian by a conclusive 20-1. Considering the Warriors have won 11 matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rebekah Harmer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Harmer was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Marley Elliott was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julia Foti, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Meanwhile, St. Johns Country Day lost 16-1 to Bishop Snyder on Thursday.

St. Johns Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Harvest Community, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

St. Johns Country Day's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Harvest Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .543. It's a different story for St. Johns Country Day, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Harvest Community's hitters?

Harvest Community came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Johns Country Day in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
