Football Recap: Valley Center Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Valley Center had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it five. They were dealt a 61-28 defeat at the hands of the Imperial Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Tigers are ranked 123rd).

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joeisha Ryan Tirado, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 110 yards. Valley Center also got help from Jesse Morales, who showed off his sure hands for 162 receiving yards.

As for Imperial, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Imperial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Santonio Urena, who threw for 365 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Gio Robles also helped out as he racked up 200 receiving yards.

Coming up, Valley Center will square off against Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Imperial, they will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 12.7 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
