Baseball Recap: Carter Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Carter ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Union County Patriots. This was payback for the Green Hornets, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kingston Griph made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Trey Painter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cooper Cardwell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Carter's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carter will welcome Sequoyah at 5:30 p.m. on March 4th. As for Union County, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Webb at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
