Basketball Recap: Russellville Comes Up Short

Russellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They lost 67-45 to the Todd County Central Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Rebels are ranked 100th).

Todd County Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordyn Shemwell led the charge by going 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kathryn Ballard, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Russellville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Todd County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.

Russellville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-34 loss against McLean County on the 15th. As for Todd County Central, they will take on Hopkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
