Football Game Preview: St. Charles Bulldogs vs. Merrill Vandals

The St. Charles Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Merrill Vandals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, St. Charles put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They put the hurt on Byron with a sharp 41-20 victory. Considering the Bulldogs' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Merrill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 win over the Huskies.

Merrill's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Charles, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

St. Charles didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Merrill in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 34-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
