Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Cougars vs. Colerain Cardinals

The Edgewood Cougars will face off against the Colerain Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edgewood has seven straight victories, Colerain has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Edgewood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Franklin by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, Colerain didn't have quite enough to beat Ross on Saturday and fell 8-7.

Craig Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Caleb Hesse was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Edgewood pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Colerain, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
