Softball Recap: Redbank Valley Gets the Win

While Redbank Valley's win against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Mackenzie Foringer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.9 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Redbank Valley saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Troup, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Summer Bish was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Redbank Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Redbank Valley will be playing at home against Moniteau at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Reynolds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
