Weiser is 2-8 against Payette since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wolverines will square off against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Weiser has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Weiser came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Emmett.
Weiser saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Ingle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Payette hadn't done well against Nampa Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pirates came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 14-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the game before.
Gauge Christy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Payette let Darrien Pecunia and Jayden Barrera run wild. Pecunia got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple, while Barrera got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Barrera a new career-high. Zack Jackson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Payette is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs. As for Weiser, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Weiser suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Payette in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
