Baseball Preview: Slippery Rock Rockets vs. Meadville Bulldogs
The Slippery Rock Rockets will head out to face off against the Meadville Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Slippery Rock will be strutting in after a win while Meadville will be coming in after a loss.
Slippery Rock took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Grove City. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Austan Runtas looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Doug Popovec was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
