Soccer Game Preview: Madera vs. Sunnyside

The Madera Coyotes will challenge the Sunnyside Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madera's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Thursday, Madera came up short against Roosevelt and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 817th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 408th).

Madera's goal came courtesy of Jose Hernandez, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside entered their matchup against San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Sunnyside fell just short of San Joaquin Memorial by a score of 1-0. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

Sunnyside's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4-1. As for Madera, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-3.
