Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wakefield walked away with it. They came out on top against the Topsail Pirates by a score of 6-2 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won five contests in a row.

The team relied heavily on Thomas Piscorik, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Evan Genao was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Wakefield pushed their record up to 24-3-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Topsail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.
