Basketball Game Preview: Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers vs. Fullerton Warriors

The Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Fullerton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newman Grove/St. Edward is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Newman Grove/St. Edward is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Heartland Lutheran on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Newman Grove/St. Edward came up short against Heartland Lutheran, falling 58-33. The Panthers were down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Newman Grove/St. Edward got top-tier performance from Kailey Patzel, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 boards. That was a full 57.6% of Newman Grove/St. Edward's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Korina Bittner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Even though they lost, Newman Grove/St. Edward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Fullerton can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down Palmer 36-21.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Fullerton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
