Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Presidents vs. Onteora Eagles
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Roosevelt ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past the Onteora Eagles with a 73-69 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Presidents as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Despite the defeat, Onteora saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jameer Maize shot 60% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maize has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luc Millenson-Wilens, who posted 15 points.
Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Onteora, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.
Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Onteora, they will be playing at home against Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
