Softball Recap: Bend Lava Bears vs. Central Panthers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bend had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Central Panthers. Winning may never get old, but Bend sure is getting used to it with their 18th in a row.
Addisen Fisher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Fisher has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Fisher wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cassidy Sandgren, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.
Bend is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Central, they now have a losing record at 13-14.
Bend will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wilsonville at 4:35 p.m. Bend is on a 11-game streak of home wins, Wilsonville a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
