Baseball Recap: Astoria/VIT Comes Up Short

Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 6-1 to the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats.

Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will square off against Hamilton/Warsaw at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton/Warsaw has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something Astoria/VIT will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, a feisty cat fight will be fought as River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats take on Eastland Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
