Preview: Lubbock-Cooper Pirates vs. Lubbock Westerners
Lubbock-Cooper has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Lubbock Westerners at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lubbock-Cooper is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lubbock in Texas (Lubbock-Cooper is ranked 27th, while Lubbock is ranked 625th).
Lubbock-Cooper suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Monterey at home and fell 87-53. Lubbock-Cooper has not had much luck with Monterey recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Lubbock had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Coronado by a score of 50-43 on Friday. The victory was just what Lubbock needed coming off of a 89-38 loss in their prior match.
Lubbock-Cooper's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-9. As for Lubbock, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17.
Everything came up roses for Lubbock-Cooper against Lubbock in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 76-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lubbock-Cooper since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
