Soccer Game Preview: Union Pines vs. Triton

The Union Pines Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Triton Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Union Pines' offense. They fell just short of Richmond Senior by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Union Pines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Triton and Harnett Central have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Hawks came up short against the Trojans, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Triton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Harnett Central are ranked 179th).

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Triton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12-2.

Union Pines beat Triton 2-0 in their previous meeting last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
