The Steinmetz College Prep Silver Streaks will venture away from home to square off against the Bogan Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Steinmetz College Prep has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Bogan will arrive with five straight wins.
Steinmetz College Prep managed to slip by Disney II the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Silver Streaks came up short against the Titans on Tuesday, falling 13-4. Silver Streaks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Titans since on Tuesday.
Steinmetz College Prep got a good showing from Carlos Morales, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Morales a new career-low.
On the hitting side, Steinmetz College Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elias Flores, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Bogan made easy work of ACERO Garcia on Thursday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Omaria Braxton was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Bogan is undefeated when Braxton posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Alexiel Mendez Vigo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Bogan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .562 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Bogan's record now sits at 11-6. As for Steinmetz College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-21.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Steinmetz College Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Bogan struggles in that department as they've averaged .617. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Steinmetz College Prep couldn't quite get it done against Bogan in their previous matchup back in May of 2018 as they fell 4-0. Can the Silver Streaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
