Basketball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springs Valley Blackhawks.

Despite the loss, Martinsville still got an impressive performance from Mya Lewis, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Murrell, who posted eight points.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Springs Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.

Martinsville and Springs Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Martinsville (ranked 263rd) will meet Southport (ranked 129th) at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Meanwhile, Springs Valley (ranked 242nd) will meet Edgewood (ranked 119th) at 12:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
