Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, New Hope couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Lafayette Commodores by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Kennedi Martin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Jeoreia Henry was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

New Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Lafayette, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lafayette beat New Hope by a score of 5-4 later that day.
