Softball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Monroe Central Golden Bears

Southern Wells is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Monroe Central an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Southern Wells Raiders will host the Monroe Central Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Southern Wells lost 13-2 to Heritage on Thursday.

Southern Wells saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyah Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Monroe Central came up short against Union County on Monday, falling 12-2.

Monroe Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Southern Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southern Wells has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Monroe Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Southern Wells skirted past Monroe Central 6-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
