The Cajon Cowboys will venture away from home to take on the Yucaipa Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Cajon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Cajon came up short against Citrus Valley and fell 5-2. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cajon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zak Flinn, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Yucaipa earned a 10-6 win over Redlands on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.
Blake McGilvary looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Heaton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor White, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Yucaipa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February.
Cajon's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Yucaipa, their record now sits at 16-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cajon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Yucaipa struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cajon came out on top in a nail-biter against Yucaipa when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
