Preview: Caledonia-Mumford Raiders vs. Mount Morris Blue Devils
The Caledonia-Mumford Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Morris Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Caledonia-Mumford has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Mount Morris will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Friday, Caledonia-Mumford came up short against Pavilion and fell 66-54. Caledonia-Mumford has not had much luck with Pavilion recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Donny Peet, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Potter, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Mount Morris can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 64-37 win over Hinsdale Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mount Morris has posted since December 1, 2023.
Caledonia-Mumford's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Mount Morris, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Caledonia-Mumford and Mount Morris were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but Caledonia-Mumford came up empty-handed after a 62-61 loss. Can Caledonia-Mumford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
