Volleyball Recap: Seminole Ridge Falls Short of Southwest in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Seminole Ridge couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Southwest Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Seminole Ridge wouldn't go down easily and took Southwest into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 16-25, 15-10.

Despite the defeat, Seminole Ridge saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evan Holowecky had ten digs, two blocks, and two aces. Holowecky is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.

Seminole Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 23-7. As for Southwest, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 25-5.

Seminole Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwest, they have already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Winter Park on the 17th.
