Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willard). They came out on top against the Lucas Cubs by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Crimson Flashes as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Ava Deel made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits. Deel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kenley Bond was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Steinmetz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Willard lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Willard's victory bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Lucas, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willard will venture away from home to square off against Edison at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Crimson Flashes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lucas, they will head out to take on St. Paul at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. The Cubs will need to watch out since the Flyers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
