Softball Recap: Pierce Drops Highest Score of Season Against Willows

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pierce). They put the hurt on the Willows Honkers with a sharp 25-9 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Pierce got a massive performance out of Danica Wilkerson, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Ramos, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Pierce and bumps their season record up to 6-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Willows, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pierce will square off against Gridley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season. As for Willows, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Nicolaus at 4:00 p.m. on May 12.
