Basketball Recap: Minersville Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Minersville hadn't done well against Blue Mountain recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Minersville Battlin' Miners snuck past the Blue Mountain Eagles with a 53-49 win. This was payback for the Battlin' Miners, who suffered a 68-35 loss the last time these two teams met.

Minersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shazier Bethea led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Bethea's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dante Carr, who went 5 of 9 en route to 19 points and four steals.

Minersville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Blue Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Minersville will face off against Pottsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pottsville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Minersville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blue Mountain, they will take on Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blue Mountain is facing Tamaqua at the right time seeing as Tamaqua is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
