Basketball Recap: Jordan Christian Prep Comes Up Short

If Jordan Christian Prep was riding high fresh off their 66-44 takedown of McKeel Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 61-60 to the Mainland Buccaneers.

Despite the loss, Jordan Christian Prep still got an impressive performance from Amelia Williams, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. Williams' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nana John Soumah, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Shilah-Rayn Lord continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mainland, putting up 26 points along with five boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Lord is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Brooklin Cooper was another key player, earning ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Jordan Christian Prep's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Mainland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Jordan Christian Prep has already played their next match (against Academy of Central Florida), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mainland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-50 defeat against Altamonte Christian on the 23rd.
