Football Game Preview: Sutter Huskies vs. El Camino Eagles

The Sutter Huskies will take on the El Camino Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sutter's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Sutter was fully in charge, breezing past Dixon 62-12. Fans of the Huskies have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Sutter can attribute much of their success to Braden Scritchfield, who threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes, and Losi Asiata, who rushed for 194 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Asiata's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another back making a difference was Gary Bicknell, who gained 90 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sutter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 430 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Sutter's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Troy Bowens and Angelo Carreon, who each picked up one sack apiece. Bowens was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Camino). They snuck past Natomas with an 18-13 victory on Friday.

El Camino's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Sutter, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Sutter against El Camino when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 70-0 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
