Softball Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Huntington Highlanders        
        
		
            Capital is 1-9 against Huntington since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Wednesday. The Cougars will square off against the Highlanders at 1:00  p.m. Given that  the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this  match.
Capital is headed into Wednesday's   contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game  on Tuesday. They came up short against  South Charleston, falling  10-2.
  Jadan Bishop made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kathryn Crowder, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  RBI.
Meanwhile, Huntington was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight  loss. They fell  10-7 to Tug Valley.
 Layla Crickard put in work while hitting and pitching. She  pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. Crickard was even better at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with four  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Aubrey Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.  Ellie Fei was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Capital's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
 Capital came up short against Huntington in their previous matchup  back in March, falling  6-3. Can the Cougars avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
