Volleyball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Downers Grove North Trojans + Official Tickets

The St. Charles East Fighting Saints will head out on the road to face off against the Downers Grove North Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, St. Charles East came up short against Geneva and fell 2-0. The Fighting Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 28-26.

Despite the defeat, St. Charles East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gianna Gjokaj had nine digs and four aces.

Meanwhile, Downers Grove North was able to grind out a solid victory over York on Tuesday, taking the game 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Downers Grove North didn't let York take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23.

Downers Grove North's win bumped their record up to 23-10. As for St. Charles East, their loss dropped their record down to 13-20.

St. Charles East couldn't quite get it done against Downers Grove North when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Fighting Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
