Baseball Game Preview: Pius XI Catholic Popes vs. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers

The Pius XI Catholic Popes will face off against the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Pius XI Catholic and three for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Pius XI Catholic nor Homestead made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Popes fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Popes have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Pius XI Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariano Rivera, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Owen Hickethier also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Heritage Christian on Saturday and fell 4-2.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Pius XI Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Everything went Pius XI Catholic's way against St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Pius XI Catholic made off with a 9-2 victory.
